BRIDGING SIMULATION AND REALITY IN MARITIME AUTONOMY

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming a captain from Fredrikstad Kommune to test our simulator, joystick system, and automatic docking for the Hyke Shuttle. His verdict?

“It feels like driving the real thing.”

Captain Kenneth Hystad

While we have data to support the accuracy of our simulator, nothing beats validation from an experienced operator with countless hours on the actual vessel. His feedback reinforces our confidence that the simulator is a powerful tool for rapid testing, crew training, and validating new control concepts—all without taking the ferry out of service.

By continuously refining our situational awareness and control systems, we’re not just making autonomy more intuitive; we’re ensuring that captains and crews have the best possible tools to navigate the future of urban water transport.

A big thank you to the team for making this possible and to Fredrikstad Kommune for their engagement in shaping the future of ferry operations!

Take a Hyke with us towards a cleaner, smarter future. Let’s transform urban transport together!
